Is there chemistry?

It all started behind the bench—with DNA to spin down and a gel to run. While managing a lab at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the University of California, San Diego, I learned I was better at writing peer-reviewed papers for the post-docs I worked with than performing all those mini-preps.
